I AM BLACK

Must I suffer because I am different
Am I not like you
Do I not eat to survive and
Survive to eat like you
Drink the same drink to quench thirst
Sleep as you do to rest mine head
Crave the same freedoms you seek?

The only difference, naked
To the eye
Is my skin colour
Or
Is it really?

Do you hate me as
I am slightly different
To you
Or perhaps it is
My composure
My shortcomings
My dress
My hair
My eyes
My hands or
My heart?

You choose to diss,
Unlike me
I appear as I am different?
Fair? Is it...?
What goes around comes round
But...
I only pray it doesn't come to you
I don't feel what you feel.
